LeBron James signing with Philadelphia has done more than shake up the NBA offseason, it’s fundamentally rewritten the 76ers’ championship math, at least according to what the numbers Vegas and prediction markets are now putting up.

The Odds Say Challengers

DraftKings moved Philadelphia from +2000 to win the 2026-27 title before the signing to +900 after, tying them with the New York Knicks for the third-best odds in the league behind Oklahoma City and San Antonio.

Polymarket saw the Sixers’ implied championship probability jump about five points to roughly 12-13%, while Kalshi saw Philadelphia’s price double overnight from 6¢ to 12¢.

Loaded Roaster On Paper

The roster on paper is definitely loaded. Healthy, Joel Embiid anchors the frontcourt, Jaylen Brown arrives as a proven champion looking to rewrite his own story after the trade that sent Paul George to Boston.

Tyrese Maxey is coming off a wonderful year, and rising talents like VJ Edgecombe gives the roster youth alongside star power.

James' gravity alone changes the math for Philadelphia's offense with defenses no longer able to double Embiid freely with a four-time MVP spacing the floor.

Lingering questions

But the questions that have followed this roster all offseason haven't gone away.

Embiid’s health is the swing factor it has been for years, and fitting four ball-dominant stars — James, Embiid, Maxey and Brown — in one offense will challenge head coach Nick Nurse’s rotations and lineup construction from day one.

Contenders or Favorites?

So are the Sixers a title team? The markets say they’re contenders, not favorites — firmly in a “second tier” behind Oklahoma City and San Antonio.

Whether that translates on the court will be a matter of health, chemistry and how quickly this collection of stars gels into a team.
