Kawhi Leonard is a superb basketball player. He is reputed as quiet, serious and focused. Whereas most NBA stars love being in the spotlight, Kawhi does not like talking but letting basketball do all
the talking. He is known as a great defender, a player with a composed
personality and a great game-winning player.
Early Life and Background
Kawhi Leonard was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 29, 1991.
He was brought up in an area where life was not a rosy one but he
would use basketball to elevate himself above everything. He was a
high school basketball player in Martin Luther King High School in
Riverside, California. Kawhi was large, tough, and a good defender,
which allowed him to immediately establish himself.
Following his high school, Kawhi joined San Diego State University. He
served two seasons with Aztecs. He was also credited with being a good defender and a consistent scorer during his college days. His
development and performance saw him become a leading NBA draft
prospect.
NBA Draft and the Spurs Era
Kawhi was picked in the 2011 NBA Draft, number 15 by the Indiana
Pacers, but he was traded on the spot to the San Antonio Spurs.
Kawhi was trained by one of the finest coaches in the history of the
NBA, Gregg Popovich. In San Antonio, Kawhi grew up as a young player
to a superstar. He was a player who was reputed due to his work ethic,
calming nature during pressure and his skill of defending the best
players.
Kawhi is a 2015 NBA Defensive player of the year. This award
demonstrated that he was not only an excellent defender, but he was
one of the best in the league. His long arms, fast hands and powerful
body helped to stop the opponents including making steals.
First Championship and Finals Most Valuable Player
The first major incident in the early life of Kawhi was in 2014. San
Antonio Spurs became NBA Champions and Kawhi the Finals MVP. He demonstrated his ability to pilot a team on the most grand scale at a very young age of 23 years.
This title made Kawhi one of the revered athletes in the NBA. He was
not only a great defender, people started to regard him as a
full-fledged star.

A Historic Run With Toronto Raptors

In 2019, Kawhi brought the Raptors their first NBA Title in

In 2019, he was signed by the Los Angeles Clippers, and he returned to
his home city. The Clippers developed into one of the most powerful
teams in the league, and Kawhi was the star player.
Injuries, however, have been taking a toll on him. He has taken some prolonged absences as a result of knee injury and quadriceps injury. Nevertheless, he is still one of the most dangerous NBA players, as long as he is healthy.
